Three more teams punched their ticket into the playoffs, and four more teams found themselves playing for golf in January. The Pro Bowl teams were announce this week, and of course, everyone has a snub or three. Enough about the distant future, let’s go to the picks!
NYG at BUF Thursday 7:25 PM CST NBC
The Giants are closing in on a playoff spot, while the Eagles got eliminated last week. With a win here, the Giants have a shot still to challenge Dallas for the NFC East title. They come out firing for one of largest Thursday night scores of the season.
Giants 31 Eagles 17
MIA at BUF Saturday Noon CST CBS
Welcome to Saturday games! First up we have two teams desperately fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive. Matt Moore will be starting again for the Dolphins, but that will not matter. The Bills will key on Ajayi, but they will not be able to stop them. The Bills offense will not do enough to keep up with Miami.
Dolphins 24 Bills 20
NYJ at NE Noon CST CBS
New England does not rest, they keep pounding away. Their next target, the Jets who have been dismal at best for a majority of the season. The last time these two faced, the Jets kept Brady in check most of the game, but they will not be able to this time.
Patriots 42 Jets 10
TEN at JAX Noon CST CBS
The Jaguars fired their coach while they were on the plane home. That was how desperate they were to get rid of him. Now they are at home, facing a hot Titans team wanting to make a playoff run. Two organizations heading in different directions, and it shows today.
Titans 28 Jaguars 21
MIN at GB Noon CST FOX
After the hot start, everyone has been beating down on the Vikings. They cannot protect anyone and this is cause for major concerns. A promising season is about to come to an end when they head to the red hot frozen tundra. The injuries to Rodgers is not slowing him down much and his receivers are making plays. One game closer to his run the tables prediction.
Packers 35 Vikings 20
SD at CLE Noon CST CBS
I’m just going to put very little here. Here comes 0-16.
Chargers 31 Browns 14
WAS at CHI Noon CST FOX – UPSET PICK OF THE WEEK
Washington took a large step back last week and now is needing some help to make these playoffs. Chicago has played tough over their last few games. Barkley has played well and will continue to do so as they play for pride and momentum going into their own offseason. Spoilers!
Bears 24 Redskins 21
ATL at CAR Noon CST FOX
Speaking of spoilers, the Panthers have a shot again to play spoiler as they face Atlanta. Officially not eliminated yet, but they will need to win out and get a lot of help. They could start by taking down Matt Ryan, but that will not happen. Too much offense for the Falcons to be stopped. Carolina heads to the eliminated section.
Falcons 24 Panthers 17
IND at OAK 3:05 PM CST CBS
Oakland has finally made it back to the postseason, but since the Carr injury, they have not looked explosive like before. Indianapolis is fighting for their playoff spot, but it is a long trip out to Oakland. Last week was a great win for them and they carry the momentum forward.
Colts 28 Raiders 24
SF at LA 3:25 PM CST FOX
San Francisco could be under their fourth coach in four years next year. I do not believe that is the right move to make. They need to have some continuity and let a coach help decide which type of players he is looking for instead of being handed the old regimes dead weight. We know that the Rams will start the season with a new coach already. They looked awful on Thursday night, and that will continue this week.
49ers 21 Rams 10
ARI at SEA 3:25 PM CST FOX
Arizona is another team with high expectation and never found rhythm. The Seahawks have played up and down all year which is worrisome going into January, but they are currently sitting nicely in the 2nd seed. Their home field will still give them a chance to go far, and they show how loud they can get this Saturday.
Seahawks 24 Cardinals 10
TB at NO 3:25 PM CST FOX
This is a big game, there is no understating that one. The Saints need this game to stay alive, and the Buccaneers really do to. After a dismal performance in Dallas last Sunday, the Buccaneers also need to lick their wounds and rebound back. The Saints put on an offensive show for the ages in Arizona last week. Slight advantage this week to the home team.
Saints 28 Buccaneers 27
CIN at HOU 7:25 PM CST NFLN
This is a game that should have been highly hyped, but with how these two teams are limping to likely early season exits, not much hyping going on anymore. The Bengals managed to lose a game where they scored 21 points last week and did not give up a touchdown. The Texans had a late game win. With Savage starting, this is a wild card type pick, and in those I prefer the home team.
Texans 24 Bengals 21
BAL at PIT Sunday 3:30 PM CST NFLN
At least we have Sunday football this week too! The Steelers come into this game red hot, and the Ravens are playing good football too. This game will decide the AFC North, and with how the Steelers have been playing, they will be winning this game and the AFC North title.
Steelers 28 Ravens 20
DEN at KC 7:30 PM CST NBC
Could we really see both Super Bowl teams from last year miss the playoffs? Quick answer yes, both will be eliminated at the end of this game. Kansas City has found different ways to win all season (except the crazy long field goal loss last week.) They will continue to do so this week as the Broncos have no answers of offense this season.
Chiefs 24 Broncos 20
DET at DAL Monday 7:30 PM CST ESPN – LOCK PICK OF THE WEEK
Dallas is going to know they need to win to still stay ahead of the Giants, so they will be playing hard. The Lions have not looked that good since the Stafford injury, and this Cowboys team will take advantage of it. Dallas keeps rolling at home.
Cowboys 28 Lions 14
NFC: Seahawks, Cowboys
AFC: Patriots, Raiders
NFC: Cardinals, Eagles, Rams, Bears, 49ers
AFC: Bengals, Chargers, Jets, Jaguars, Browns
One week left until we are talking Playoff Football! Again this season has gone way to fast, but what do you expect with only 17 weeks of fun? The eliminated and clinched sections above should have a few more teams added to it next week as the playoff picture clears up more. Until next week –
Last week 14-2
Upset pick of the week 6-9
